Walking-Standing-Sitting in Sin

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.

Psalm 1:1-2

Our involvement with sin is one that is often entered into by degrees. As indicated in Psalm 1:1 man is warned against three stages of desire whereby his curiosity drives him into being comfortable with sin.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly.” Believe it or not but sin is often introduced to us when we begin to walk where we have no business walking. The moment we walk off the path of truth and righteousness we begin to walk where we ought not. “Nor stands in the path of sinners.” Have you ever been walking and all of a sudden something caught your eye and you just had to stop and watch? That is what sin is like. You transition from walking in the counsel of the ungodly to wanting to stop and take a look. Slowly but surely you begin to get more and more comfortable with the fellowship of sin. And while you are standing there, sin can’t help but notice you. So he walks over and introduces himself by a name that would be pleasant enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Thus before you know it you are being invited to sit “in the seat of the scornful.”
Do you see the progression? David is warning us against making the journey that many have made that begins with walking and ends in death. Was this not the journey of the young man devoid of understanding in proverbs 7? Sin is crafty and it will make its move into our heart as slowly and progressively as it can.

We all have our ways of bringing out truth that others may not have noticed before. Will, great insight on the walking, standing, sitting progression...something I've not caught before! I may use it sometime, 'cause I only steal from the best. Cheers!

I give you permission to use it in your book if you need to. I will just have to receive 5 cents for every book sold though. LOL

Thanks for reading my friend. So, I noticed that the fishing idea ended kindof abruptly. I wasn't sure if that was because you don't have any fishin polls or because you don't like fishin. ?? Because if you have a heart for fishin we can make it happen with some plane old fishin lines tied on to some Dr Pepper bottles. Dr Pepper bottles work fabulously.

I love to fish; I just haven't fished in years and years and years. In fact, I can't remember the last time I went fishin'. It might have been when I was a teenager...and considering my age, you know it was a long a time ago! But I would definitely love to go...if you know a spot where the fish are always bitin', because I hate just sitting there without catching anything!
